Description
These umbrellas and parasols are designed and made in a relatively small atelier in the village of Donzy in France. They offer an extraordinarily wide range of designs, both in terms of the shapes and fabrics. You will find both modern folding umbrellas with more abstract designs, as well as historic bubble designs finished with lace. Or if you just want a plain colored parasol or a transparent umbrella, they offer those as well.
They also offer custom made umbrella with a fabric, frame and design of your choice. So if you don't find what you're looking for, they may be able to help you out.
Attention: while Guy de Jean makes some umbrellas in house, they also sell a lot of them on their online store that are not made in France, but are imported (they don't say from where). Currently you can only distinguish those made in France by their product description, which will say that they were made by hand in their atelier in Donzy. If you don't understand french, look for this sentence:
"Ce parapluie est fait main dans notre atelier à Donzy en France."
Looking at price also helps. Umbrellas made in France are generally not priced below 60 euros.
Origin
Guy de Jean mostly assembles their umbrellas in France. This includes cutting, stitching and attaching the canvas, as well as attaching the handle and end of the umbrella, depending on the model.
The origin of any of the components, such as the fabric and frames is currently unknown. As far as we know, they do not produce any of these in house.
